FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Who can use PartnerDesk?
Financial advisers, mortgage brokers, will writers, estate planners and similar professional firms. It is a business-to-business service and is not available to members of the public.
How do we become a partner?
Apply through the become a partner form. Applications are reviewed individually and accounts are created by invitation.
Do I need to give my client advice on Wills or LPAs?
No. You record the facts and the client's wishes in their own words, and you can note whether they are interested in Wills or LPAs. Birchwood Legal assesses the options and gives the legal advice in the estate planning report.
What if I don't have time to complete the fact find?
You can share just the client's details and Birchwood Legal will complete the fact find with the client. You can also upload a fact find you have already completed. Complete what is known; a referral should not be delayed because every box is not filled.
Will I be kept updated?
Yes. Each referral shows its current step in the customer journey with a traffic light, and you are notified in the portal and by email when there is a message or an update.
Who charges the client?
Birchwood Legal always charges its fees directly to the client, as set out in the proposal and Terms of Business the client accepts.
Is there a referral fee?
Any commission arrangement is agreed with Birchwood Legal directly. Where commission applies to a case, it is shown on that case in PartnerDesk.
What does the client sign?
Once the client decides to proceed, Birchwood Legal sends a Letter of Engagement setting out the agreed services and fees, together with its Terms of Business. The client reads and signs them electronically through a secure link. You are copied in and the signed copy is kept on the case.
How is client data kept secure?
Files are held in private storage and can only be downloaded through short-lived links by people with access to the case. Every access is recorded. Please do not send identity documents through insecure channels such as ordinary email.
Is AI used to process client documents?
No. Client documents are not sent to external AI services.
